I've a recently built Rover cross-bolted 4.6 V8 fitted in my Defender. I've recently had fuel injection fitted and the power increase is immense. However, when it's cold or damp, the thing runs like a bag of shit until it warmed up. I think the chap that did the fuel injection conversion did a tidy conversion, but doesn't have the facilities to set the engine up correctly. Can anyone recommend anywhere in the Midlands that will be able to help me to get the best out of what I think is a potentially great engine?

Look up RPI or V8 Developments.

These people know Rover V8 engines inside out.

Look up Mark Adams he is a Lucas EFI god (assuming it still has the Lucas system). He doesn't just do the RV8 in TVR's but does most of the aftermarket work for Rangies and does a nice number in the Bowler Wildcat mapping too thumbup.
Do a search on here or give him a ring on 0169 4720144.

Does it have a cold-start injector that runs into the side of the intake plenum?

The light-blue plug on the top of the plenum hat.

I'm not sure what induction you've got on your 4.6 but if it's got a coldstart injector it could well be worth unplugging it and seeing what difference it makes - apparently they give nothing but grief and can cause poor running when cold.
