Looking at the cars for sale on Autotrader it seems that the GT3 RSs are now going up in value
and so they should a great car with the same performance ( if you include the new Michelin tires ) as the new 997 GT3 and Im sure we will
see how good they really are the coming track year + they have no Gismos !

Im now sounding like a 964RS owner !

Based purely on theory, I would not have expected them too just yet. I think it's fair to assume that a percentage of 997 GT3 owners may have otherwise bought 996 GT3's, or perhaps owned them already, so both reducing demand and also putting more of them onto the market.

Not that I'm suggesting I think they've got far to fall before bottoming out. I would guess they are more likely to plateau for a few years (perhaps until the next generation 911) before then steadily rising and becoming collectible.

Edited to say: Sorry - I did not realise you said RS's. I was thinking we were meaning "normal" GT3's. I you may be right on the RS's. I'll read more carefully next time.

They must be, because I have just sold mine, always a reliable indicator of the bottom of the market!

I am told they are currently going up by £2,000 per month, and this time next year they will be at £80K for a MK1 and £100K for a MK2. Owning a MK2 I think this is great news but I also think it's a lie made up by me, but keep it to yourself ssshhhhhhhhhh

I met someone last week who had been in 997 GT3 but preferred his
996 GT3 RS as he said it felt more involving to drive !
and this chap can pedal ...... + it was around the Nurburgring as well

Here we go again on the 'involving' drive bit..isnt that another word for 'hard-work' and unruly?

Along with "Porsche Carrera 964 RS Clubsport, NGT FIA" surely the 996 GT3Rs has to be a winner, previous RS don't even have cup or umbrella holders, this alone makes them desirable to RS owners missing out on such neccesities.

Tim, have Des's ramblings finally brainwased you?

From a market perspective, any time after 5 years old they will be a true bargain at 10 Years old they will be recognised as one of the Porsche greats and priced accordingly,,,of course absolute values will depend on how many uncrashed ones are left

There are a couple of cars around on the low £60k's at the moment also one at c£65k. Look at ebay or the PH site. Many dealers are still flying kites by asking c £70k. If you've got the wonga in readies then I reckon £62k will buy a good one.

There are not many low mileage (sub 5k) RS left.

Quite a few have been written off on track thus depleting the gene pool.

I can see the 996 RS going the way of the 993 GT2.

Even so.... It's a good indicator of a market that's about to skyrocket hehe
