Ok, feel free to flame me but here's what I'd like... can it be done and who could do it? Secondly... cost?

I want to change the exhaust routeing. Basically I'd like a double twin pipe config with each of said twins emerging at a 45 degree angle from the side of the car, just (or a foot or so) behind each front wheelarch, slashcut so that the pipe end is level with the car (or slightly protruding, an inch or so max)

Could this be done? Without losing the volume / pop / crackle / occasional muzzle flash that I currently enjoy?

Cheers

It'll sound horrible and totally rob the engine of power.

A collegue at work had his Mitsubushi GTO completely re-exhausted to a new design in large bore stainless for £500. Looks good and is very loud.

is there a reason for this v8 cerbera,or purley for looks.
imo most/all owners love the sound of the cerbera,i wouldnt mind betting that this would dramaticly change that sound, but you wont know if you like it till its done, could be a expencive lesson.also would there be any heat issues as the manifold already cooks everything, cant ever see you going over a speed hump again either only my opinion mate

I cant see it being possible, not without alot of work involved.
The engine sits too far back, and therefore the point at which the manifolds join the system are quite far back (almost as far as the gear lever) and then you will have to add the silencers.
Also the exhaust runs adjacent to the chassis so you will have to go over or below the chasis. Both causing their own problems.

My exhaust is already hanging low / loose - I wondered if it worth doing a re-route while I'm under the car. Due to responses, I'll just be swapping out the cat for a decat and leaving the rest as is!

It can be done easily, if your cars as high as mine now... hehe

A shorter system wont rob you of power if you get the right headers designed, plus you'd have to get a new map for sure, but flat-v8's were always intended to have short exhaust systems, the catch is in getting the header design right for a short system, and for a short system the right headers can take ages to develop, basically BIG BUCKS! now you know why fezza headers cost so much bar the titanium, its the design, not something joebloggs down the road can just make up for ya.

But then the other issue is theres not enough space to get the header design right, another limitation of the cerbera chassis.

My advise, based on a fair degree of research on this subject, dont bother mate, unless you're going FI, and then a 4-1 straight shorties into a merge collector and straight out the sides using a muffler shorts is the way, but then, your car sits too low, you'd have to get the modified, but then it will look like its on stilts, and compromise your handling...

In short, dont do it.

An alternative, go for the quad-pipes if you're looking for something different.
Contact Craig at www.unlimitedspeed.co.uk - he's running quads - and its loud and meaty, he'll get you sorted.
