Compos are a good strong wheel although they can be a bit on the heavy side as they are more a rally wheel than a race wheel. That can be an advantage though as they'll take a lot of abuse and kerb withoug breaking.
That Dt price is outrageous though go to comp direct I paid a lot less for a pair of 18*10's than that. I can dig out the name of the sales guy if you do want compos...
in the tasmin challege the Mo's were the mandated wheel and we never had problems with them. i think i've still got 4 sets of 15's!!!

I thought they would be lighter than th OE parts??

not necessarily... the compo is a very strong wheel. much stronger than a spider for example. the 15" compos and tyre are heavier than the 18" tsw and tyres on the tuscan. Road car wheels can sometimes be lighter as they arnt built to take the same stresses.
The Mo's are strong though for example in 4 years racing the taz i never damaged a wheel. in the first season with the tuscan, clattering over a kerb split one of the lighter built tsw wheels in 2 !!!
Im not sure how much a 17" rl7 from the cerb would weigh but it might be worth checking. as i said if you can get your brakes under an 1" rl7 you should be able to get a set of 4 for a couple of hundred quid, and the rl7is a strong wheel.
Compo are very helpfull though so if you ask them for weights ect they will let you know.
I hope I can shed some light on the tyre/cerb equation!
I've had a lengthy discussion with Mike McGregor of Dunlop Racing and his recoomendation on the old TVR Speedlines is (as they are basically an 8 inch rim) the 210/620R17s. These are the best fit and will give a better grip than the 235s as they sit square, there is a risk of the 235s peeling off!
Also, unless you want to start modifying bodywork you're going to struggle to get more tyre on a Cerb as the 210's come up 235 equivalent to a road car and the 235 comes up 255 which probably will rub on the wheel arch due to the racing tyre being square versus the contoured edges and walls of a road tyre.
The 210 is basically 9 inches wide and last night measuring an old set my Toyo 255s are 10 inches the difference being that Toyos only seem to have 200 ml in contact.
Maybe the more experienced guys have a different view, which I'd be welcome to hear before I order my new wets and slicks but this is the cheapest way I can find to get booted. As Graham said Speedlines are about £200 a set, and having two sets already it's a no brainer on the basis even with bodywork you going to struggle to get a wider set.
