I have just bought a '97P Chim 500 from jamer (well chuffed! The inane grin is back ) but I'm fairly sure it's not as loud as my '99T 400 I had last year. My girlfriend can't hear me coming (oo-err!) until I get to the end of our street - she used to be able to tell from two streets away!
Which are the best, easiest and cheapest ways of making it sound better (i.e. LOUDER) ?

There are four biggish pipes coming out of each side of the engine, just loosen the bolts a bit.

Bloody cats.

It'll give her less time to get changed now

Didn't someone post a while ago (can't find it) about the noise difference between a 4L and a 5l when doing a test drive?

They found the 4l to be a lot louder IIRC.

It could well be down to exhaust mods of course...

Cue 4.0Ls are better than 5.0Ls thread.

My car is nice and poppy on the overrun and when pootling around because I have loose baffles (I must see a doctor). Pity really 'cos the car would be much quieter if I had it fixed.

Having owned a 500 Griff and test driving a 500 Chim
i think the 5 litre does not sound as good as a 450 or 400 Chim in that order. Just my opinion.

Mrs T here. I recently navigated for Rivergirl on a day out in her 400 Chim. I'm used to a 500 Chim and could immediately tell that her car was quieter. Maybe it's down to the individual car. They all sound great anyway ! .
