Hit and miss in all honesty from what I have heard.

I know some people who rate them very highly but two chaps I used to work with had no end of problems with them but these could be isolated cases where the system fell down.

Its all very subjective and there will be times when potentially we could all have problems like the above with our ISP's.

Really anything but NTL who are the most unprofessional company I have ever had to deal with.

Shame that.. They are the only company I can use that can offer me anything substantially faster than my .5mb adsl line here in the sticks.. And I quite fancied the NTL 4mb package. .5mb doesnt really cut it these days, but apparently thats all I can have down the phone line here.

NTL are one of those companies that if it all works fine, your laughing. If however you need to get them to fix something then it can be a problem.

Whilst their customer service can be quite appauling, when one of the boxes in the house took a lightning strike (made an impressive bang when it blew) they had someone out the next day to replace it. So I can't really say they're universally bad.

Their broadband does cut out when it rains (I suspect a cable with bad shielding or too near the surface 'somewhere') and the TV boxes are grossly under powered for the software they're running so can be slow and make you wait. But they do work.

Out in the sticks for me too, but in all honesty there aint a great difference in going to 4mb anyway most downloads are limited by the site more than your ISP.

Absolutely, I've had them for years, it's been fine. In all fairness I've had about 3 problems with NTL over many years and they've all been dealt with very well.
