Rear boots for my M400 - advice please......

Just run my M400 down to Peter Smith in Hatton for various jobs to be carried out on it, one of which it transpires is that she needs a new set of rear boots. I'm reliably informed by an erstwhile servant of PSSC that they will be Pirelli Rossos and 'can only be supplied by Noble at a cost of er...£300 odd each'

Any chance that any of you good Pistonheaders can help me on this one, before I just give them the nod....as it does seem quite hefty to me!

Answers on a postcard please....?

They should be Pirelli Corsas - Motorsport version. 265x35 ZR 18

You can get them from elsewhere - including from Pirelli I believe, but the cost is going to be close to what you have been told as far as I know.

Can he really supply them for less than £200 fitted??

Nicky - given my M400 is currently between Derby and Leicester, and I will be coming back down south to collect her on Friday 5th January - can you tell me where your mate Alan is based please? If he's 'local' to the Midlans then spot on, or even betwixt Derby and Aberdeen - any farther south though and he may not be any use - geographically speaking of course!

I used 048Rs on mine, very good tyre.

When i bought some recently the factory turned out to be the lowest cost source, and i did look around and at the time they were the only people who had stock.

Yep - same here. 'Reason' for low stock apparently was that Pirelli had switched manufacturing sites, but had not yet got the 'new' Corsa production line into operation. That was about a month ago, so may be different now.

They have less tread on them than Corsa's, so no, not at all good in standing water.

Oh well....I've made countless phone calls, to every tyre retailer in the Yellow Pages, and I've spent about an hour on the net, and the Corsa's just don't feature amongst your mainstream purchases from any of them. So...it's 2 for the M400 please Sir, from the factory (with Peter Smith doing the honours) at a total of £640.14 fitted including the VAT (as if that makes any difference to me!).

I only eked out 5000 miles from this set, albeit I am changing with 2.3 mm of tread left on them when the legal minimum is 1.7mm - that said I think it's possibly a wise move on safety grounds - so - if anyone fancies the set to be removed for tracking or thrashing please feel free to say, and you can have them!
