Hi all,

Is it possible to set up something on my webspace so that I can use it to transfer files too and from work if I don't have an FTP program at work? Also so that I can share files with other select (read password holders) people and so on?

Is there a (free) sort of FTP/GUI type thing for browsers that I can install and "drag and drop" files to and from my webspace?

Oh and whilst I'm no IT idiot (well, I probably am but I'm a developer for my sins), I don't really want to be coding PHP or owt like that. Something as simple as phPBB in set up would be ideal.

Thanks,
Phil.

It depends on what Operating System your website is on..

if Linux, then you could just try using your web browser to 'be' your FTP client

ftp://www.yoursite.com

it should pop up an FTP box asking for your FTP username/password.

you should then be able to drag / drop to / from it.

Another option is to have someone code something for you, it would be fairly simple to do, so long as you know a reasonably competent PHP developer.

Depending upon your ISP you may have WebDAV enabled on the site, in which case (in modern Windows) you can view the site using explorer and drag and drop to your hearts content.

Thanks chaps. The ftp:// thing sort of worked but I think the work PC's/Browsers are limited in some way.

I'll have a look at what my webspace provider offers.

Thanks,
Phil.
