What i would do is pick up GT Legends (cheap as chips) and go spank some
cobras and cortinas around for a bit.
Then grab rfactor, the 1979 F1 addon, the Caterham addon, the V8 addon, the F1 addon, the historic rally car addon, the beetle racing addon, the 60's GT addon....aww hell..just get loads of them and never look back
If you want i will post some screenshots here that will make you burn that PS2 on the lawn and forget you had LFS installed for a while
Actually there are still some games i play on the PS2 so maybe burning it is a bit extreme
Also, i'm not sure about LFS, but if you get hold of the games above and crave that simulation feel, make sure you have any driver aids turned off.Forget Turismo aids being off, that is a walk in the park compared to these games.
Saying that though, i still can't do a swift lap in the rfactor F1 without traction control on.
Those cars actually scare me

LFS is very realistic, but its rather spoiled by not having any real tracks and hardly any real cars (The Sauber F1 car being one of the only exceptions.) The actual driving experience seems pretty similar although there seems to be more steering lock on the live for speed cars.

Ooo I didn't know about rFactor. The perfect gift to myself along with the logitech G25 wheel

Apart from the fact most racing series use cars with 180 deg of lock
One failing with rFactor is it's more setup for circuit racing/cars, because the road cars I've used/worked with (M3, NSX, Supra) were all a little hard to understand if you were using the right lock to lock and steering ratio etc. I'm sure once your familiar it's obvious whats going on of course, but when your new to it using 900 deg mode, some road cars just feel really unresponsive as your using 900 degree to turn the wheels a little bit as they are setup wrong
rFactor is great though, a game made for modders and the quality and volume of content is just stunning considering... You pay not much and get essentially every racing series and style thrown in for free!
LFS is ok, but it's hard to have any idea what is right or wrong because it's not a real car. It's so easy to say "but thats how we wanted it to handle"... Netkar did it the other way, they had a few cars that they wanted to handle REALLY authentically! Worth a play as it had lots of potential for a hardcore sim driver with a 900 degree wheel!

Lacks something compared to Test Drive unlimited, Looks no where near as good, And no 123 mile laps!!
To be fair though, he did say "realistic" in the title.
TDU is great fun, but it's more an arcade racer innit.
Sorry, I thought he meant the drive where you want, talk to people buy houses and clothes ect!!

No Sir, LFS isn't like GTA etc if that's what you thought.
I think the day they include those things in a "sim", most of the people here will quit gaming
