Battery fitment

Further to my other posts regarding a weak battery, I just removed it. Strange to say the Steve Heath instructions in now way fitted to what I found.

My 5L Griff had the ecu standing in front of the battery box, and the fuse box bolted to the bottom of a battery box. The battery (a type 065) was sitting in a GRP box 4 inches off the floor, and there was no way the battery box was moving even though there are two bolts sticking out the bottom of the car. The GRP box had a cover bolted on.

So the battery is a tad undersized, it stated max cold cranking 410 amps which is way under the 650 recommended, and its was date stamped 1991 and it was motaquip. So a new battery is called for but i can't get the correct fitment in or is this the way early Griffs were ?

the battery box is normally bolted to the floor, ecu resting on top and the relay panel is screwed to the footwell wall (rear of the wheel well). its a mess.

battery does need to be 065 and fit in the box.

650 cranking min.

650 cranking min in an o65 battery ?

Varta blue 065 with capacity of 55ah and cranking of 540, if anyone can point in the direction of an 065 with more cranking amps I'd be grateful.

OK so now i think the 075 as recommended by Steve Heath is the correct fittings.

with 60amp/hour capacity and 640 amp cranking its more the business.
