We use Quark (on the Mac) and are moving over to Adobe Creatuive Suite 2(on PC) shortly. I hate PCs but that's for another day.

We have other people who work for us (but not in the office) who use InDesign we have supplied. (CS2)

My boss has ordered a copy of this for my PC. It turned up and sat on the desk here for a few weeks before I was going to load it on - when I got round to it I found it was a Mac version we had been sent and not a PC version. My boss wants to load on CS2 using disks from our other copies of it but try and use the Mac version serial no. cos he says that the latest version of CS2 (2.3) won't be compatible with the versions we have.

I think this is wrong and think he should send it back to the supplier and get a PC version (2.3) - he got the very last of the CS2 versions apparently.

With me? I think CS2.3 will be fully compatible with CS2 as it's probably only a minor upgrade and not a full jump - ie CS3 etc ...

And I remember things in Quark 4 not being compatible with 3 - ie you had to backsave a 4 version doc to 3.3 before you could then open in 3.

Thing is, I get the feeling he's blaming me for not noticing it was a Mac version all the time it was stood on my desk ... hehe

Help me fellow inDesign users!

AFAIK there is no compatability issue between 2 and 2.3 - the missus uses both on 2 different machines and tends to be rather vocal about issues with software hehe

ETA - why not just put CS2 on the mac as you have it?!

EATA - I've just emailed the wife to double check, just in case!

Thanks Davi ...

I'd keep the Mac given the chance but the company policy is to go PC cos the boss is a PC guy - sad I know - I hate 'em ... confounded things.

And all the journos in the office have 'em and Windoze laptops as well.

Got an iMac at home though - wouldn't swap it for the earth.

FYI - Adobe customer service will give you a PC key and sell you a PC media kit for not a lot.
