Took the Cerb out for the first time today (Speed 6)
Won't take a clean full throttle,(suddenly like ignition turned off and then a bang as the power comes in and out again. Would seem to me like a possible plugs/leads fault, though trawling through the forums I seem to now be thinking about throttle pots?
Am I right in thinking that the car has an mbe ecu and can be plugged into a laptop with the right connections? I'm based in Aylesbury, Bucks. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

I'd try Topcats - I think they're your closest Tiv specialist.

The ECU is basically controlled by the throttle pots vs Engine speed to create the fuel and spark maps so the loss of either one will probably result in what you've described.

You need a copy of the speed six software and a laptop with a 232 9 pin port on it to have a chat to the troubled soul and ask it whats wrong...

I'd speak to you're nearest independant or Jools at Trackcar for a copy of the software, As sadly I've only got the V8 one, if it covers the speed six i 'll let you know

I'd also recommend Silverstone Performance - Matt and the team are top lads.

Sounds like you might need a ECU upgrade chip (known colquially (although somewhat inappropriately) as a de-throttle chip) which sorted my S6 out when I experienced similar problems. If you search the Tuscan forum under de-throttle you should find more info.

Sounds like it could be the pots or more possibly a duff coil pack or the wiring going to it.

just wanted to post and say bad luck. Such an annoyance when the new toy will not play - at least I managed 50 miles in mine for the first time before the slave cylinder went pop. Go to see your local specialist, lets face it you and they are likely to know each other quite well over the course of ownership. someone mentioned to me that it's a possibility cerbs sulk a bit when with their new owners.

The lows are bad but rest assured the highs are brilliant.

Hi !

Had the same problem with my speed six. I wrote in a topic what I did to get it to work.

www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=6&t=313122

I think the biggest fault on mine was the HT leads being to close to the signal wire from the crank sensor. Probably they had been put together in same loom when they put the engine in after the rebuild.
If You look at the diagrmams from the diag software that I recorded i my car You can see that the crank sensor suddenly say that the engine speed is about 200 rpms and then jumping up and down together with the ignition and the times for the fuelinjection.

Good luck

Thanks so far guys, won't start unless I pull injection relay and crank to get rid of fuel, replace relay and it will start. We've looked with airbox etc removed, looks like it's had a new coil pack and leads recently, put it all back together and it seemed fine on driving apart from the starting, must be a coincidence? I took it for an 8 mile run (drove well and took full throttle in any gear) and left it with topcats racing in Westcott. They are going to have a look tomorrow but did mention temp sender which actually makes sense as it started when it was cold! We'll see tomorrow but if it doesn't get sorted it will be cheap for one of you at £10k! (I'm deadly serious!!!!!!!!!!)
