Well, they really do seem to deserve a good kicking for the 'all I want for Christmas is a psp' site. For those who've missed it appearing, Sony decided it would be a good idea to try and set of a viral marketing campaign in order to beef up sales of the flagging PSP.

It featured some chip dancing around rapping with a PSP fascia about all the hip and happening features, a cute little blog thing that again was full of "hip and happening" language. They were busted for it big time, as were the Zapotni agency who orchestrated it (even down to commenters on the blog naming which employee was which fictional character).

The final insult in the whole charade is I feel the 'appology':

Busted. Nailed. Snagged. As many of you have figured out (maybe our speech was a little too funky fresh???), Peter isn't a real hip-hop maven and this site was actually developed by Sony. Guess we were trying to be just a little too clever. From this point forward, we will just stick to making cool products, and use this site to give you nothing but the facts on the PSP.

Wow, I actually read that as Sony calling my stupid and not 'with it' enough to purchase a PSP.

It also looks like for this and other attempts to drive customers away from their products Sony are being investigated by the FTC in the states. Opps.
