Can anyone let me know what size speakers the fronts in a chim are, I want to get some replacement kenwoods but I am unsure which size to get.

This might sound silly, but why don't you use a tape measure?

I have just been looking at the same thing - can just make out that my originals are Poineer TS-G1633, 80W - thus assume they are 16cm speakers (in a '96 Chim)

Have just upgraded the standard Pioneer stereo unit for the DEH6400 - can reccommend!

Speakers will come with a minimum required hole size to fit in therefore I would measure the hole in the door.

I think they're 16cm speakers, but you have to be careful about what you fit - if they go really deep then they'll foul on the window motors.

I've fitted 165mm Rockford Fosgate components, but had to space them away from the panel because of the motors.

I second that. I replaced my standard items with some infinitys. Huge difference in the size of the magnets meant that they did fit, but it was a very close fit.

I have just had the head unit in a 94 chim changed and asked the guy at Sound Gallery in High Wycombe about changing the speakers. He talked about speakers of this size coming in 160mm and 165mm flavours and that he would recommend the 160mm due to a tight fit of the 165's. Give them a call on 01494 464670. They are excellent at what they do. He gave a recommendation for a particular 160mm speaker at approx £120 but I can't remember the name of it. I am going to have some fitted there in the next couple of months once the old ones have been knackered from the volume needed occassionally.(sp?)

The standard (cr@p) Pioneers are 16cm. I've put 16.5cm Infinity Kappa 652.5i's in my Griff, not cheap & the door card needed cutting but it was worth it.
