Weak Heater

Getting my Cerb back post rebuild any day now. SO have started to think about the other things I want to do to her (phnaar).
The heater on mine is very weak - the flow of hot air is hardly noticeable - it is hot but just hardly pushed along. I know where all the vents are. Is it possible to fix this sort of problem or is it a nightmare ?
It isnt a major issue ie car gets warm etc but the heater sounds so weak!

When I was doing something else a year or so ago, I had the panel over the heater fan off and discovered about two tesco-bags worth of old leaves etc. blocking the airflow. I've since blocked off the airinlet path above the front wheel, but this stuff had obviously been hoovered up over the years by the car.

Hope this makes sense, but could be worth checking out.

The fan is in the passenger footwell on the left hand side (as if you were sitting in the seat) where your feet go. If you remove the panel there, you should be able to see if there is anything there, more than likely there is.

Check as much of the pipework as possible for leaks.
If they are leaking or not even connected (as was in my case) then alot of the air flow will be lost there.

It just sounds weak (which I GUESS means it is less likely to be the pipework?).

Cant find no fan ! In the passenger footwell I have the usual ECU plus a couple of control boxes, one of these is the heater control box. Dont think that can be full of leaves!! Am confused!

Its actually in the n/s front wing.The access panel is in the passenger footwell.The panel is stuck on with glue and tape. mine also had a couple of rivets keeping it in place

To the left of the passengers feet (behind carpet) or under passenger feet ?

does your fan speed control switch work? Maybe it is set on low all the time?

Thanks guy's found mine and it was full of leaves, plus the cover was held on with nice wood screws (quality workmanship!)If i block the inlet under the wing will this make the heater better?

Its to the left of the passenger footwell. The fan is not very powerful because of its size. To clear the screen you must also turn the cold air fan on,with the air con on.The air con drys the air and this clears the screen effectively.

Thats a good tip, I hadnt thought of using the Cold. I'll try that. Cheers

Sorry guys to be a doubting thomas here, but will turning on the cold fan really make a difference ?

I'm sure on mine if I turn the cold fan on, only the air blows out of the cold air vents (steering wheel and passenger vents in the dash) and doesn't affect the hot air one, as the hot air only seems to come out of the top vents and the driver and passenger footwell vents.

Could you shed some more light or blow some more air on this one for me, I'd like to replace the fan for a bigger blower but couldn't find anyone who had done this before or whether it was worth it ?

Pull out the panel that covers the ecu,there is also a panel behind that remove this to.The fan is actually situated in the near side wing.Peel back the carpet on the lefthand side of the passenger footwell.There is a panel fix to the body, remove this and you will find the fan behind it.I have myself looked into fitting a larger and more powerful fan but unfortunatly space widthwise is limited.The standard fan is the biggest diameter that will fit in the recess in the wing
