After reading the latest anti-speeding tirade in the "local rag" from a Mark Ruskell, Prospective Parliamentry Candidate Mid Scotland and Fife Green Party, I would to like answer his letter with some FACTS, as opposed to the drivel he has written, ie 1% reduction in speed leads to 2.7% less crashes (.7%!!!)etc.
Can any Pistonhead(ers), point me in the direction of some good links (apart from the obvious ABD)that can provide me with some facts to counter this propoganda.

www.abd.org.uk

Go to the speed link and you will find the truth about the 1 mph speed reduction, 30% of accidents speed related etc. Cut and paste and see what lies he comes up with.

In addition to above here's a link to an article which is right up your street (excuse the pun)

Does a 1mph reduction in speed really reduce accidents by 5%?

So, if I reduce my speed by 37%, I'll never crash!

I'll be invincible! It's incredible! Why did nobody ever think of this before!

Reduce it by 100% and I can guarantee that you'll never crash. But I'll also guarantee that you wont be going any where :P

Keep your reply to less than 200 words.

Hit him with solid evidence that speeding is not a problem.

Proof came recently from the North Wales Scamera Partnership, which press-released its analysis of people caught by their cameras.

Most people caught speeding were middle aged males.

Middle aged males have the best accident records, reflected by the lowest insurance premiums.

It follows that the people caught most for speeding are the people who have the fewest accidents.

Tell him to stuff that in his green pipe and smoke it...........

Just wondering, but how can you have .7% of a crash?

Is that a near miss? in which case I seem to have a lot of .7%'s of crashes on some local roundabouts where drivers totally disregard the fact that there's two lanes, and two equally heavy cars trying to occupy the same space!
