HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!
Discussion
Here we go again!. All aboard the TVR roller coaster ride. You couldn't write a book about the goings on at Bristol Ave. At times, it is too unbelievable for words and the workforce have come to the end of their tether with all the ups and downs, false hopes and uncertainty.
At 10.30 yesterday morning, everyone at TVR was to be made redundant and then it was announced by a member of Blackpool Council, that a 'third party' had come up with a proposition for production at the plant, with hopefully, a decision being made by the end of next week, once again leaving the workforce in limbo, uncertain again, as to what the future holds for them.
On Thursday morning, the union were summoned to a meeting with the TVR management, when they were told that the proposed deal with the 'third party' regarding a take over had 'fallen through' and that the whole of the workforce were to be made redundant and letters of intent were to be prepared.
Having been told of this, my reaction was to think, "it's the end of an era and a very, very sad day for everyone" and I felt totally gutted, but then thought "at least the line has now been drawn to end all the rumour, speculation and uncertainty and maybe now it is time to move on and hope that some resemblance of normality can be restored to the lives of everyone.
But here we are again!. The lives and futures of the workforce and their families, again left up in the air and these people really don't deserve all this, not after all the worry and disappointment that they have had to en dour in the past.
A swift resolution is what is required and right now, to end all this upheaval once and for all.

I hope it is a swift resolution too! The whole business makes me sick!
I cannot comprehend how they can openly mess with the lives and minds of my friends and ex-work colleagues. What kind of people can do this month after month and still be able to live with themselves? This whole situation just highlights why NS & all his cronies never did and certainly never will fit into our TVR family.
I hope those responsible for this sorry mess get the Christmas they deserve!

What exactly are the negotiations with a third party about? NS isn't selling the TVR brand and he doesn't own the premises at Bristol Avenue - all he has is a short lease on the premises - why can't the third party agree a lease/purchase with PW independantly. Hope PW pursues NS for the full rent up to the end of the lease as well.
Anyone understand what all this third party nonsense delaying NS sorting out redundancy is all about? NS should pay the TVR workers reasonable redundancy, get lost and let the third party offer the TVR workers new jobs.

This is what I can't get my head around

Tis strange. I guess the guys are hanging on waiting for redundancy payments- assuming they don't get screwed over I'm sure the majority would be looking at atleast £10k but I'm sure some would be entitled to a lot more- I wouldn't walk away from a 10 grand payment.
The TP business- maybe Nic IS selling TVR, or parts of it, or trying to outsource various bits and pieces- I don't think he's playing for time, I think he doesn't actually know what he's doing period. Did the Recardo engine contract fall through?

10k - they ain't the miners........... Sadly I bet they only get the state minimum - its about £240 per year served IIRC, with a cap at twenty years
Anything on top is at the discretion of management / union negotiated deal for voluntary redundancy, which I guess isn't likely................
Merry Chuffin' Christmas.
Why oh why did he have to walk into a TVR showroom FFS
- he could have bought Proton and got Lotus into the bargain. Now look here TVR bosses, even when Quasimodo was made rendundent he was given a lump sum and a crate of bells. So please go away and dont come back, then maybe just maybe other people who want to take it on can get started and get TVR back on the map and out of the s**t mess its in!!GOD SAVE THE QUEEN AND TVR!

There are hundreds of families with Christmas looming not knowing whether they will be able to have one or not. If the Russian wideboy is so rich(?) why doesn't he just shut this whole circus down, pay the workers what is fair and just f**k off back to Russia.
PW shafted him because he was f*****g stupid, he is shafting the staff because he has just realised it.
He isn't going to build TVRs here, Italy or Skegness it is game over.

I really feel for the workers and their families at this time. They key point is that TVR needs the workers to be available, as to a potential buyer, they would make up a large part of the 'goodwill' or premium that a new buyer would have to pay for an essentially, bankrupt business.
The management at TVR would be fully aware of this.

......I'm afraid I have to lean with you on this one and think he'll shaft them.
It wouldn't be inline with the stinking business strategy he has been following - if he didn't shaft them would it? W
R!
One hopes the
is aimed at the russian boy....
Of course
Apologies if that was not clear

I have a very grave fear that this is not the end of the suffering for the workers.
I believe that it is very likely that the workers will see no redundency payments as the company will be put into liquidation before the end of the 90 days. The signs are all there, TVR have no real assets now as NS has sold most of them of to TVR carparts and TVR Power, the company don't own the premises and have no orders. Any 'sly' accountant can easily make the case for winding the company up, then NS can walk away with no responsiblities and the next day start up again as say TVR Sports Cars Ltd.
It is clear that he does not give a sh*t about the workers or his customers so this would be the next logical step for him. I hope I,m wrong.
My very best wishes go out to all the workers. Hope you can have a good Christmas despite the best efforts of your boss.
