2002 996 TURBO WITH PCM1(TAPE SLOT)
Discussion
HELLO GUYS,
ANOTHER QUICK QUESTION
2002(02) 996 TURBO WITH PCM1 (TAPE SLOT), CAN THIS BE UPDATED OR BE REMOVED AND THE PCM2 UNIT INSTALLED AT COST.
OR WHAT OTHER OPTIONS DO I HAVE AVAILABLE TO ME ????????
WOULD IT BE BETTER TO TOTALY REMOVE THE PCM1 UNIT AND GO FOR A INTERGRATED PIONEER OR BECKER SATNAV/AUDIO/VISUAL UNIT IN ITS PLACE.
HOW HAD IS IT TO LOCATE A PCM2 UNIT

Unfortunately you can't install the PCM2 model into a PCM1 wired car!
There was talk on the PCGB website that a company had modified the very latest up to date Vauxhall SatNav discs to work with PC1, do a search of the 996 section on their website. This would allow you to up date the mapping on the PCM1 system, which is very good aside from the fact that the mapping is now 4 years out of date!
Alternatively you can always buy a Tom Tom, which is more sensible than ripping out the PCM1!!!
