Hi all

I went testdriving a late 95 Chimaera 5.0 with 28k miles today .

Two things came to my attention. First the clutch point was somehow strange. It was at aprox. 6/8 of the returnway from fully pressed. Is this normal?

The second thing was a low volumed nailing sound from the engine. I've had the same sound on my S3C all the time (even though it was a little louder!)

Any comments are highly welcome as I want to deceide by beginning of next week!

Thanks and have a nice sunny weekend!

I had a similar clutch situation - the fluid had all but gone - it is a leak in my case. Once it was topped up the clutch point returned to normal. Could be this?

What's 6/8? do you mean the clutch bit about 3/4 up on pedal travel? That sounds OK to me.

No, it's 1/4 on pedal travel. Therefore I think it's not ok?

Timewind - seems a bit low to me. But it could need bleeding. Is this 3/4 a "slack" portion of travel before you notice any clutch spring resistance? or does it feel the same, but start to bite when you're only 1/4 up? If it's the latter, it could be a new clutch required soon.

Hi dodger

Sorry for the confusion.

It's the following thing happening.

First I fully press the clutch. Then I let it come and at 3/4 of the travel the clutch bites. Is this allright in your opinion?

Best regards
