I've sorted the LS6 engine / EFI wiring and have the starter working. I'm planning on adding water and starting the GTR Saturday. Crossing my fingers for good luck. Will post some new pics next week.

Hey, good looking Ultima, Jeff!

Looks like a very good standard of build as well.

Love the interior... very individual

Well done. Hope it all starts up properly.

Great. What have you done to the front wheel arch vents? We need to convince Ultima to send us the kit that CJ has pictured on his website.

Good luck Jeff!

Btw. that is one BIG wing! Also, the car seems to be sitting rather high? Are those pics taken with the car on the shocks or ride height bars?

Your right, I need to adjust the Intrax. I bolted them on the way they came from Ultima. Could be the fact my car weighs 1900 lbs. I didn't want to lower it yet since I'm jacking it up and down. I'll adjust ride height before bringing to the alignment shop. I didn't want to sell another motorcycle or car to pay for the Ultima wing, so I'm mounting this $400 one in the stock Ultima location, I can upgrade later if needed.

What did you do to get the car so light compared to others?

Hi Matt

Chassis powdercoating has been delayed, but I may pick up some other goodies soon. Next few weeks, but I'm in no rush. Seems like the build is most of the fun, so I'll take my time!

Cheers

Looks like you've got the Endplates on your wing the wrong orientation, shouldnt they be 180 degree (i.e. they look upside down and back to front).

The end plates are installed per the mfg instructions, but you're right they are designed wrong, so I'm making new proper carbon end plates.
It's lighter due to the carbon tub and all alloy LS6 engine, along with the 20 lbs lighter (that Gen1 SBC) rotating assy.

When I visited Ultima to test the red GTR Ted told me that it was lighter then a normal GTR and he said that it weighted 950 kilograms. You are saying that your weights ~863 kilos just because of the lighter engine and some cabon fiber panels. I have also made carbon fiber instead of alu on my GTR but the weight difference isn't very big, maybe 30% lighter. How much lighter is the ALU LS engine? Is it really almost 100 kg lighter than a normal smallblock?

I hope you are right because then it will be much easier for me to have 1 hp per kilo

I'm told the LS weighs about 100-125 lbs less that an iron block/alum head Gen 1 SBC. I don't know all the components exact weight, but I borrowed my dirt car racer friend's four digital scales and my Ultima without fluids weighed 1918 lbs. 59% rear 41% front.
It's factory spec except for G50/52, LS6, seats, instr, belts, carbon tub /panels.
When it's on the road I'll weigh it again and post it here.

Fluids including full tank's of fuel will add 100kgs (9 litres oil, 80 litres fuel 10+litres coolant), so sounds about right with the lighter all alloy engine.

So with the same weight as a can-am we look forward to the sub 7 second 0-100mph runs.....keep us posted.
