Hi I was just wondering what the cost of a season in the GT championship costs? I know that teams budgets vary massively, but there must be a rough figure that you can't do the championship under?

I am assuming that teams have full time staff, a factory of some sort, a transporter, race fees, purchase of car, spares, tyres etc etc etc

Any information (purely to settle my noseyness) would be gratefully recieved

Which GT Championship? In which class?

Are you asking the cost from a driver wanting to get a budget together to race, or as a team wanting to buy a car and run it? If its the latter do you want to run competitively? (It WILL make a difference to your budget, depending more on the championship you choose yo run in and the car you choose etc).

You'll need to be more specific for the answers.

I know of a driver who this year had to raise £30K to secure a drive in the FIA GT3 at Silverstone, this was just for one weekends racing

ok so the question was more for general being a nosey git than for any specific reason (my friend wants to drive etc etc)

I guess that I was thinking along the lines of a 911 gt3 sort of car being run as a team rather than a driver trying to buy a drive... just how much does it cost to run it?

I used to work at race circuits a couple of years ago and it always amazed me wandering around the paddock that a car for instance costs £120k as a road car + converting it to race spec, then having staff, the facilities (I mean how much does a snap on tool kit cost!!!) transporter motorhome workshop etc etc. So it always amazed me how people could actually afford to do it as a business.... as I say just curious.. then again at £30k for one race I can perhaps start to understand

If your quick enough nothing, if your buying a drive 8-12 K a race, if you’re the owner and 2nd driver plus running in FIA and at Le Mans allegedly 2.8 Mil!
