E46 Automatic Headlamp Leveler

Hi
The offside headlamp adjuster in my car has stopped working. The light now appears dipped at its lowest setting. The control on the dash only moves the left side light up and down. I first noticed this Friday and after twiddling the controls, the right side headlight adjuster seemed to work again. Today however it has stopped responding altogether.
Is this an easy fix? What should I check? If not can anyone suggest a independant gagrage in the Farnborough (Hampshire) area that could.
