me too, i started the wedge after 4 weeks of sitting in the garage, much to my suprise 1st go no problems, it was at the very very busy shell garage after filling up that the battery had decided to give up
, its amazing how many people watched me trying to push him out the way, then the typical tvr comments from people walking past. strange the way it just died there and then.

Great spec etc but the terminals were the wrong way around. luckily loads of slack in the cables to make it fit without any worries. This type has been largly discontinued by many places now
I replaced the battery on the 400 last week to a type 075. It wasn't quite as well rated but it fits properly (terminals the right way round) and is the battery that most poeple have listed for the wedge V8s, regardless of 350, 400, 450 etc.
Just to confuse matters, some stockists also recommend a type 089.
Just to simplify things, The 3 things to look for are:
TERMINALS - Ideally the right way round (Pos and Neg) and the round type lugs (not Ford square type)
RATING - You should be aiming for 12V and approx 68Ah & 505A respectivly.
PHYSICAL SIZE - The battery must be able to fit in the battery compartment and be retained with the retainer strap.
Its also worth paying the extra £10 or so for a 3 year guantree over a 2 year guantree battery - They are MUCH better quality, although as they generally contain more lead, they weigh a fair bit more...
Hope this helps mate

No problems with leaving my "largest physical fit" battery for weeks/months at a time. I also have an Acu/Optimate type device which I normally think "I should of connected that up about a month ago" then discover the car fires up straight away anyway. If your battery is not in tip top condition or you suspect it's anything other than absolutely perfect splash the cash and buy a new one and say goodbye to any cold morning starting woes.

Often thought about relocating to the boot and then you could get a bigger battery and not have the problems we all seem to get after not starting for a month

Paul, the battery on my old 350 was in the boot, but it takes up a fair bit of space and gets in the way, and then theres all that cable waiting to chaff through and set you on fire.
I think I will go with the 'get the biggest Jag battery that will fit idea'
Thanks Wedgers

I bought an optimate .. well worth the investment..
Also means you can go on holiday for a few weeks and it will still start when you return.

Is yours as good as this one Rev? www.vertar.com/tecmate/accumate-6-12v-charger-optimiser/
Looks a great buy at £39.99 inc Vat and postage.
Just wondered as it's cheaper than the one in the pop up ad.

Looks like a similar unit.. the ad next to my original post also seems to include a cigarette lead too.. not really needed on a wedge.
I paid about £35.. ish.

Bosch silver in mine. Good even after getting completely flat twice during starting problems and good for at least two weeks without starting.
Bosch silver here as well. Came with the wedge when bought in 2001, no problems even after months of no use (due to standard wedge 'maintenance' issues), and still going strong..... Keep in mind I have no electronic alarm or such of these gismos, only the clock keeps ticking.
Posted the number and type of battery in the past, so if you would like one, a search could help (probably the most expensive battery out there but a very good one).

I agree with "biggest that will possibly fit" theory.
When my 350i batt failed, it was fine starting the car from cold, but would not turn the engine over when hot ( i.e at the fuel station ). I was sure it wasn't the battery that was at fault, but in the end fitted a new one as a last resort, and that solved the problem. In the end I put it down to the starter motor needing more power when it was roasting hot. They are pretty close to the exhaust, which does not help.
