Does anyone have experience with upgrading the phone facility?
I have a B6 787 5835 cradle that only supports some old Nokia phones and want a way of Bluetoothing my PDA phone when I get in the car.
I have been looking at B6 787 5840 a Bluetooth cradle but cannot establish how well they work. I am told they offer support on a limited selection of phones but wonder if this unit will work with any phone? Has anyone had this issue, I currently have an Orange SPV M3100 but do not want to be restricted to specific phones if possible.
Are your contacts automatically accessible via the wheel and Linguatronic? Or is it only if they are stored on the simm?
Thanks for any advice.

The Bluetooth cradle only works with Bluetooth SAP, and all your contacts need to be on your SIM card, not the phone memory.

The models Mercedes recommend are :

Nokia : 6230 / 6230i / 8800 / 6280
Siemens : S65 / SK65 / S75 / SL75 / S68

Apparently now when you buy a new phone you are sometimes given the option of a GSM or 3G SIM card, the Bluetooth cradle will not work with 3G, and yes everything can be fiddled with via the steering wheel.

Have the same problem with an 07 S Class. Had to 'upgrade' an SE T610 to the 'newer' SE T630 due to the piss poor cradle offerings from MB

The phone support really is crap - I don't know how MB get away with it, especially in the US where almost everyone seems to use a Blackberry.

In MB's defence, I suppose the use of SAP means the system ought to work better, as your basically using a car based phone (external aerial etc) and really only relying on the mobile for its contacts.
