I need to remove the hood from the Chim so I can have a new plastic window stitched in.
Anyone know how?

Oh dear - prepare for a nasty job.

Disconnect everything you can see in the cabin including the interior light cable - then get a small agile friend with long skinny hands and stick him in your boot - don't let him out until he has found and undone all the nuts up in under the hood base rail - just hope that they are all still captive bolts.

Good luck.

This is why none of the upholsterers accept the job unless the hood is off the car.

hi , call TrimLine 0783 6326748.. This company can replace the plastic window in place , as long as you have the old one for a template

Not true at all, www.soft-tops.co.uk insisted on leaving mine on the motah so he could see how it all went back together - whole roof re done inc rear and screen was £475 and done in a day as well !

I did mine, the three nuts in the boot are fairly hard to get off and put back on, apart from that it shouldnt take that long to remove/screw back into place. Make sure you have some spare nuts incase you drop them!!

Personally i thought removing it was a doddle. The only think i had difficulty figuring was why, having undone all of the bots, I couldn't remove the eding trim - There are 2screws right at each end of the trim that go vertically down and you could miss them if you're not careful.

When I removed my hood, I put a nut on each bolt, tightened up so as to pinch the lower portion of the hood rail between the bolt head and the nut. Then I re-mounted the hood rail. This way you can get a spanner on the 'pinching' nut (with a cloth to protect the bodywork from being scratched by the spanner) and hold the bolt still if it's no longer captive. Although the pinching nut buts up against the bolt hole in the bodywork, it causes no damage and the hood rail still sits low enough.
