Does anyone know what's happening at the factory?

My Cooper S was completed for delivery 8th Dec but has been held at the factory along with all other Cooper S's for what the dealer says is safety concerns.

Does anyone have the inside line on this?

Theres something on Mini2 about it but it all seems a bit vague... Mine is due anytime between now and mid January but I'm not holding my breath... Still maybe the roads will be cleaner when it turns up (pepper white / black roof... )

I think that's a general issue with the 3 & 5 series, this is specific to Mini Cooper S. The general consensus is that there's a problem with the bonnet shut line. Other Mini's have a different bonnet and there was a similar issue with pre-production cars so this does sound plausible.

Same here I have ordered Pepper white Black roof Cooper S, mines ment to be arriving 14th january, so we will see!

Well the holding lot behind the factory is looking very full indeed at the moment and there are 2 big temporary structures in the middle of it which have been there since before the new model went into production but now seem to be a hive of activity which would suggest there's some kind of re-work going on.

Cowley, just on the edge of Oxford. I work on the 4th floor of the building next door, it makes it a lot easier chosing which colour Mini I want! Currently, I fancy a new S with 17" wheels in white with a black roof and black bonnet stripes

Still not sure what is going on but the dealer rang me yesterday to say that the car was expected second week in January. So will just wait and see!

Any chance of a picture? I would imagion that looks pretty cool.

I think at present I would go for a Red Cooper S with 17" S-spoke wheels, Aero kit and a black roof

Exactly as mine will be when it turns up! Apparently no one else had ordered a new one in white from Reading when I did... Can'tunderstnad that, white and black is the only way to go on a mini!

I definately agree, mine is the white black roof colour scheme at the mo and my new s is ordered in the same colours. I also have a 92 italian job in white and a mk1 cooper im restoring again in white black roof. Love It!

It appears to be a bonnet line fault..to bigger gap at headlamps and at side arches
