I had the low oil pressure buzzer come on for the Tam last night. I had been driving for a few minutes and was stationary at a roundabout. When I looked at the oil pressure it was around the 30Psi mark then fell to just below 30Psi. When I strated driving again, it went back up to 45-55Psi and did not come on again all day.

Car has been recently serviced 4 weeks ago - have checked the oil level which is fine.

What does the collective think??

I had this some time ago. It was the Oil Pressure Sender Unit which was returning a false reading. Had the Sender Unit changed to a new Oil Pressure Sender Unit Mk2, and problem has gone away.

In the summer many read more like 10-15psi at hot tickover. Which is fine too.

Must be something faulty in the food chain for a low pressure warning to happen. There may be a separate sensor feeding the ECU, and the one for the gauge is overreading. Whatever the case get it checked asap as it could be a sign of something worse.

She shouldn't beep at 30 psi, that is quite a normal reading.

Before my oil sender was changed the idle readings got very low when hot; a new sender sorted it. In my experience they start to beep below 5 psi.

I suspect you have an electrical gremlin...

Sounds like the sensor momentarily 'lost' the signal. Beeped at you, then found the signal again.

Probably nowt to worry about.

Do you know if you have the MkII sender unit?

To be honest, if you have a local TVR workshop I would pop it in and get the new one installed. Better to do that than loose confidence in the dials, theres nothing worse than being paranoid about dials / oil pressure.

Just my humble opinion of course...
