Last of 993s worth more than early 996s: It's official

That's been the case for ages, I thought. Every time I look for a nice 993 over here, I come across loads of '98 and '99 996s that are cheaper than any of the 993s I'm looking at. It has to be said that some of the early 996s are extremely good value now. I'd be tempted by the later car if I found a nice red one. The problem for me has always been the incredibly cheapo feel to the early 996 interiors, with their bakelite dashdoards, chaepey-chaepe leather and flaky silver plastic bits. Bit of a pound-shop feel to the thing.
Thats why they are cheap, made to a price, a profit has to be made somewhere hence crap materials

you're right guys for the money these 996 are bloody good value!
Still tempted myself, may wait a bit longer to see how much cheaper they get!
Maybe next year i'll sell her indoors's RX 8 thingy and bag a 996 for about 15k.
Use it everyday and keep me old fashioned antique hairy bearded 911, that may have gone up in value

Hardly a surprise - ties in with this thread on low-depreciation motoring:

I notice that well looked after early 996's have not depreciated one iota since this time last year.
Surprisingly enough though ALL variants of 993 , from C2's to S's to TT's have taken a bit of a slide (and some , like the S's , maybe more than just a bit..) , no matter what year mileage or condition.
I must agree with the original post though , there's a fair amount of unloved early 996's out there , and they've taken the biggest hit of all.
Remember folks at this festive time of year , a Porsche's not just for Summer!!
