Tips on removing paint prior to respray
Discussion
Hi all,
my aluminum-bodied Aston is getting resprayed soon. I will be removing all the trim myself to save money (apart from front/rear screens) and to help save more money I would like to strip the paint myself.
What do I need?
What do I need to look out for? I know Aluminum is soft, and I dont want to scratch it by removing the paint
Also, I need to choose a paint colour. Does it help if I choose one from a manufacturer like Ford/Vauxhall? Will it be easier for them to apply?

You can use most paint strippers. We tend to use Nitromors for bare metal projects
The paint stripper will never remove all the paint & there may be some filler lurking there which the paint stripper makes a bit soft but doesn't remove.
the areas that tend to be hard to strip are door shuts & window appatures. We usually use an MBX wheel which is basicaly a glorified whire wheel in a drill.
