old wireless card + win 2000 OS+ encrypted network=internet?
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm trying to access the internet on my wireless access point (wpa-psk encrypted) from a windows 2000 os laptop, using a 3com 3crshpw pc card (3 years old). I can't really follow the installed 3com software, and can't get past the encryption on my network...
It can find the network, but doesn't offer any option to enter security, apart from 64mbit/128mbit 13 digit hexadecimal??
Does anyone know if it's possible to access the internet with this card? Can get on wiithout encryption, but not too keen leaving it open...
any help appreciated,
ben

Ok. Are you running the latest driver for the card?
I'm afraid you're going to have to check on if the card and/or it's driver actually supports WPA-PSK, which you should find whilst hunting around 3Com's site for the latest driver.
If it does, then obviously the control software you're using doesn't support it (hence no option), this will be rectified in the newer release.
If it doesn't.... well that just sucks and you're faced with a choice:
1. Disable WPA on the LAN.
2. But a newer card that supports WPA-PSK (recommended).
