Scooby offers driving experience

Autosport attendees get drive in Impreza RB320

Subaru is offering a driving day experience in the new Impreza RB320 -- the Richard Burns tribute special -- for a select number of fans.

A limited 300 places are available for a two-hour spin around Prodrive’s Warwickshire circuit in the new special edition which debuts at the ‘Autosport 2007 Show’ at Birmingham’s NEC.

The participants will be transported from Subaru’s show stand on Friday and Saturday, 12-13 January, having paid a £50 donation to the Richard Burns Foundation which helps those suffering from serious injury or illness.

Subaru’s dealers will be targeting loyal customers or key potential purchasers with a limited number of tickets. The remaining tickets are available via a link on the RB320 microsite (see link below).

The new car features around £6,000 worth of extra equipment including the 320 PS Prodrive Performance Pack, yet costs £29,995 on-the-road – an increase of £3,500.

Available only in Obsidian Black, the RB320 features bespoke 18 ins alloy wheels and specially developed Prodrive suspension comprising Bilstein dampers, a sports spring kit with revised rear anti-roll bar and a ride height lowered by 30 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear. Also standard on the RB320 are a chrome mesh front grille, front lip spoiler, quickshift gearchange, side sill plates and RB320-branded gear knob, carpet mats and exclusive exterior badging. Each owner will also receive an individually numbered black alloy tax disc holder.

The PPP boosts power to 316bhp at 6,000 rpm with torque rising to 332lb-ft at 3,700rpm, which reduces the 0-60 mph time to 4.8 seconds with a 0-100 mph time of 12.2 seconds.

As an extra bonus for the foundation, Subaru Insured will donate £25.00 for each RB320 policy to match our £25.00 membership.

Based on the iconic Impreza WRX STI the RB320 is in memory of rally hero Richard Burns who died in November 2005 of cancer.

Hats off to Subaru...doesn't look like the usual marketing rip-off???

RIP Richard...still much missed; I'm sure more WRC titles would've followed...

A fitting tribute to a truely awsome driver.

I'd love to have a go in one to see how different the suspension tweaks make it feel compared to my standard STi PPP.

I did one of the normal scooby driving days at Prodrive last year -

handling circuit
speed circuit
skidpan
fast laps etc

a top day out, with plenty of driving time and (mostly) rally driver instructors who were keen for you to "use" the car.

recommended.

If she's still there, avoid being taken around the handling circuit by the blonde female - she's not a rally driver and was massively slower than the short brown haired guy.
(she had also just rolled a car on one of the prodrive days!!)

Definately a positive review here, with the one caveat that there are a lot of people there, so you may not get a huge amount of time in the cars.
