Body off at Dyno Torque Today!
Discussion
The LS conversion is underway at Dyno Torque, Took the engine out earlier this week, and when we looked at the flakey factory powder coating it was decided the only way to do this once and for all was to take the body off and re powder coat. It was the first Cerb we had done and took around two careful days. offside front body pad was badly corroded and where the exhaust passes v close to the chassis, this went through with a whack. Needless to say this will be sorted. If someone can tell me how to post pics i will!
Blimey, two days? If at all possible, could you tell me what this cost and or how difficult it was to do?
We'll be looking at this some time soon, so would love to know more details...
not great at getting images on here though im afraid.
Another Cerb in/ around Brum, they're starting to get a bit common now?!!

Another Cerb in/ around Brum, they're starting to get a bit common now?!!It takes two days ish because of the amount of diassembly needed to get to all the bolts and to remove evrything that goes between the body and chassis. It is also necessary to cut the fibeglass in the sill to free it from the chassis and it is not uncommon to experience seized bolts that require a lot of persuausion to free them. Most of the interior has to come out. The fuel tank removed and so on. This is assuming that there is no engine or gearbox in the car in the first place.

I saw the body lifted off on a hoist at my main TVR dealer on a 98 Cerb 4.5 due to rust on outriggers etc. The engine and box were still in the chassis. They were simply swapping it for a new chassis from the factory.

Hi Whitey, you reading the Cerb forums must mean your starting to hanker after one, probably never been better time to pick up a Cerb bargain!
Mine from this time last year. Engine stayed in for initial lift but obviously came out eventually anyway once we saw that the whole lot needed to be done.

I.m putting a 6.3 LS lump back in. I did not intend on doing a chassis overhaul, but once the engine was out i had to bite the bullet once i had a good look at the chassis. Basically its the front corners by your feet that have seen better days. The centre is sound just surface rust where the coating has fell off, i will get the chassis sand blasted and re coated, i dont intend to do it again!
It now has new outriggers and the engine mounts are in place, once the new gearbox comes from the States it will all start to go back together. Exhausts will be custom made room is not as bad as to be expected, the decide which ancilleries will go where. I think the installation will end up neater than the original!
