Just after a quick bit of advice, really. Driving into work along the A68 this morning, I was flashed by a "normal" speed camera (I assume these are the GATSO units). It was probably intended to catch traffic travelling in the other direction (i.e. the camera was facing me, after the lines on the road), but I don't know what effect that has. I was on the Scottish side of the border.

I was overtaking at the time, and the police may allege I was doing around 85-90mph. I'd been genuinely sticking to <65mph when cruising, much to the annoyance of some other drivers, but I doubt there's any way of proving that or if it has any bearing. I won't bother going into the whole "driving safely, visibility, etc, etc" argument, because everyone always thinks they're right.

The cameras on the A68 are "highlighted" on the back only. What's the story likely to be - are these cameras calibrated for oncoming traffic, and if so what's the likely outcome?

I've had a quick search, but have not found anything relevant in previous posts. It's possible I've missed something.
