Hand Brake lights working Intermittently on Dash

Hi pasco,had the same problem on my Griff couple of years ago.Had the switch changed with a service at same time.Since then Iv'e stripped and re-painted chassis and noticed the switch is fairly accessible with the exhaust dropped[white switch,top of tunnel].Not sure if you can gain access with centre console out but underneath seems easier.If you need help I have the drive on ramps from J.T products. Hi Dave nice to talk to you again. Hello,fairly sure it needs dropping, I dropped the exhaust to paint chassis,mounting plate for silencer box and fit new exhaust mounts and noticed the white switch then thought " I could have done that myself"[main dealer prices,ouch].Ian at Sportmotive should be able to supply one ,the exhaust fills the gap between gearbox and inner chassis rails,left hand side,same side as the handbrake on the tunnel.Dave.

Hi,just updated last reply,don't think it is even visible with exhaust in place.It does'nt need to be removed totally just the bolt in the engine block and the 6 bolts at the large plate[silencer box]then just lower about a foot.But is does require supporting,taking care not bend the flexi section too much by the sump.

The fishtail is fairly easy to lift, behind the drivers seat and the passenger seat if you put your hand underneath the fishtail you will find on each side two 10mm nuts,just undo all 4 nuts and you can lift the fishtail so high,maybe a foot or two from the boot end of the car as thats all whot holds it inplace as it is just wedged inplace at the front but if you need to go much higher then you need to take of the drivers side rear wheel and adjust the hand brake cable on the plastic adjuster so you can then get the hand brake lever to go vertical to lift the fishtail higher...

Sorry my earlier answer was a bit vague.
You'd have to lift up the fishtail as described above, and while thats not a technically or mechanically complicated job I found it a royal PITA.
.... Jack up the car, drop off the OSR wheel and spend 15 mins with your arm stuffed up the cars jacksy, backing off the handbrake - and when you think you've done it and your forearm is killing you with cramp, do it for another 5 mins. Stick the wheel back on and drop the car off the jack.
Leaning over the back of the seats, undo the 4 nuts behind the seats which are holding down the fishtail. Crank the handbrake handle to the vertical position and holding on to the back of the fishtail, pull up and wiggle the fishtail back and up. Nothing to dislodge really so not much you can do wrong, just don't go at it like a bull at a gate
The handbrake has a rubber gaiter which is attached to the body with ali strips riveted to the centre tunnel
Drill out the rivets and pull off the ali stips (you could always glue the gaiter back later if you don't have a riveter)
Now you can have a shufty under that rubber gaiter and you'll see - *tada* a handbrake - and a micro switch of the type seen on a heater control motor below.
I still don't seem to have a photo of the actual switch but I seem to recall thinking "is that it - pah"
I believe its just attached to a little bracket and the handbrake literally leans on it to de-activate it.
