As full & complete as possible Ducati dealer service history...you can get away with servicing fours elsewhere..but not Dukes...
Termigoni race pipes work best if it has an aftermarket pipe although thats by no means a micron etc won`t do...
Dukes tend to spend more time on track than their jap bretheren ..so many replace the fairing with race stuff...check the rest of the bike is as mint as the bodywork suggests...a track day tool thats seen some action can look great with a next to unused fairing fitted...
Charge the battery often cos they are tiny...Best of luck with it all....

Corin, take a trip upto Riders in Bridgewater if you have not already, they are realy helpful, also try www.ducatisti.co.uk lots of info on there too.

Any specific reason for wanting a Biposto unless you're missus is going to go pillion a lot? Just IMHO the single seat versions look sooooo much cooler.

Just noticed this thread and did not know you were a biker Corin? I would get the 1098 Duke.

I would have to disagree on the 1098 on a number of small but pertinent issues
1) 1098 is the latest and greatest (if u read the blurb) but as its new its chuffing dear
2) the 999 is a damn good bike let down by its image. (based purely on it quirky looks, not what it can do)
3) due to 2 999's are bargins basement ducatis... they aint cheap but u get a very accomplished ducati for your money
4) I've got a 999 ;-)
If you can afford a 2005 999 then they have a number of changes that imho make the 999 almost perfect (esp in black) the key being the deep sump and cams from the S (note I got a red 2005 as the missus insisted on red)
. The only bugbear I have is the saddle gets bakin hot when stuck in traffic to the point it boils ur @rse, I speak from experience of touring france in 35deg temps. maybe a corbin will cure this
Price diff between a late 999 and a new 1098 will be be huge and I dont think the you'll notice that much difference in the ride /handling. Cant say what the claimed 160bhp feels compared to the 999s claimed 130/140.
From perusing various ducati lists the main issue on 999s are the clocks and early model coils failing both should be noticeable on test/inspection. Good luck with whatever u choose.
