Gearbox overhaul

Does anyone know the best place to get the gearbox and diff overhauled. near the north west if possible Its a Griff 500

If you do a search on ph, I think you will find most recommendations and Happy customers are for CTS (Competition Transmission Services aka The Gearboxman aka Bernie the Box). They are in Markyate, just off M1 past Luton.

Any idea of how much to overhaul a diff and a gearbox for that matter , it has to be done

Whoever you get to do it, get a firm price off them beforehand, it saves on nasty 'double or quadrouple' the price type suprises after.

Also make a note of all the serial numbers of the various components just to ensure that you do indeed get the same components back. My box started its life with 10mm mounting holes and ended up being returned with 8mm holes which was a neat trick......

Also, get some sort of agreed timeline off the recon people, saves having the car in bits waiting for months (and months) on end without even the slightest hope of having the bits back anytime soon....

If your still looking for an axle specialist try UK Axles (01895 438333) based just outside of Heathrow. Have always been good when ive used them in the past. Will probably take my Diff to them for a check over.

That might be tricky as the price often depends on the state of the gearbox which is only known after they take it apart.
