Pulled up by Plod or Scamera?
For what it's worth, I was pulled up by Plod in 2003. I was clocked at 123mph, and averaging 119mph over a mile.
Plod was a nice chap, used discretion and offered me a 3 point £60 fixed penalty which I took with both hands!

Sounds like plod didn't have concrete proof of you speeding and was relying on you to incriminate yourself - if he'd caught you bang to rights then he wouldn't have offered the FPN.

I think he did - I had to watch the video of it all. He'd followed me for nearly 3 miles. For reference, it was 1am on a Monday morning and there was no one about!
I once went out in an Austin A35 and went about 60mph on my favourite road. Do get the same sensation of unsafety, I have to go about twice that in my chums mundaneo. It's time to get away from numbers and towards sanctions for dangerous driving. I used to be able to drift my landrover at 20mph short of the speed limit in the wet.
I often drive over 100 if the conditions dictate. ie:- empty and at night, dry, etc.

Why do they wait 3 miles to pull you over? Surely if speeding is as dangerous as they say it is they should have pulled you over instantly. If you weren't posing a danger to anyone then they shouldn't have pulled you at all!

They wait, to see if you go faster or commit other moving traffic offences. They know breaking a speed limit of itself is not dangerous. All part of the game. If you argue that the law and justice ought not to be a game, I'd agree with you, but then you think about magistrates courts and the laughter starts all over again. Stuart

Was caught doing 104mph...whats the damage???
It seems to depend on where you were caught, by what means, by whom, in what circumstances, maybe your previous record, and who knows what else. I wish you the best of luck anyhow.
Speeding should not be a punishable offence. Best wishes all,
Dave.

Good man!
....not that I particularly want any feelings of unsafety etc....
Best wishes all,
Dave.
