HI mate had it for a while for pro evo 5 but got rid of it when the xbox came along the thing with ps2 online is that you cant mock the people you are killing/scoring against unlike xbox were you can ridicule them till they cry!!! and yes you can use the same lead on the xbox as the ps2
have fun
pretty sure all you need is some cat-6 netowrk cable...unless you have the fat ps2 (i have the slim) if you have the fat ps2 you need o buy a network adaptor...
you also need one of those online setup disks (i think it comes w the adaptor) that comes with the slim ps2 as well
and for your wireless netowork you would need to buy a cat-6 to wireless bridge, i'm not on my normal computer but i'll get you a link to one i know of
...OR you could string some cable to your router and plug it into one of the ports on the back (if you have any back there)
there are also some firewall issues that could happen but the offical playstation site covers them
hope that helps

2 ways to do this really - network cable route or a wireless ethernet gaming bridge.
If you have the old style large PS2 you'll need to buy the official network adapter - this includes the network access disc, which puts all the relevant network settings onto your memory card - available from most good games shops.
if you have the new style slim PS2 you just need to plug your PS2 into your broadband router/modem via cat5 cable, or with a wireless ethernet gaming bridge.
Once its all set up and running, you're away. most games come with their own online services, so as long as it says for network play on the box, you can play to other people across the internet.
Its all great fun though! i'm sure you'll enjoy it, and there are some racers on the online racing games too, so you'll really enjoy it
