Is there any way of altering the sensitivity of the boot release button on the current style of key?

I came out this morning to find the front boot on the latch and the car unlocked/unalarmed because presumably I'd caught the thing between the car and putting my key away last night.

It does seem pretty easy to accidentally pop the front boot, I've done it a couple of times whilst filling up etc.

In a word? No.

A common theme, which comes up often on here.

Head of service at my OPC says a redesign is on it's way, but that's just how it is. I've also heard they become less sensitive with age.

Personally I am very wary of touching the key whilst walking away from the car...

Yes there is a software fix if you contact your dealer.

It was launched a couple of months ago on a cd and it is effectively a time delay.

Could you provide details please? My dealer says no such thing exists and I know of 2 others who have asked.

Hi Ben,

I had ours done by Swindon OPC a few weeks before it went back to them. Apparantly all the dealers received a CD so I am afraid to say yours is being less than helpful. I would suggest you call Swindon (very nice people) and I am ure they would be happy to help or advise.

Thanks, I shall certainly try this.

Any idea what the "fix" fixes? I'd have thought the only solution would be to increase the time the button needs to be held down for, it's not so much that it's broken just poor design.

Ask the OPC to lengthen the delay before opening time for the remote buttons in the PAS controller coding... That may help a little..
