I'm considering getting a football game for my PS2. My brother says Fifa 05 is the best, but other people say the Pro Evolution series is better. Does anyone here have any opinions on either of these games (or other football games)? Is it worth getting the latests versions (Fifa 07/PE6) or should I get an older one for peanuts? I'm not bothered about playing with outdated teams.

FIFA is good...but pro evo soccer is better..it has an amazing feel for the game IMO...I`d get one of the older ones for buttons...theres not a great deal of difference between the new one & the older ones...

PES gets my vote, most satisfying gameplay, FIFA has all the teams, but then its got most of the euro teams and a couple of british on PES so... the choice is yours

It has always seemed that PES was the game of choice for most die-hard footy fans.
It was the icing on the fifa cake so to speak in terms of playability.

Fifa 07 though seems to have tipped the balance with even long term PES-heads
admitting it is a damn fine game.

Forums the world over are full of people who prefer one and moan about the other.
I always liked them both.

Also, fifa has a few options and quite a few more stadiums on the PS2 than the xbox 360
version has.

I've just Fifa 07 which is a big improvement on 06 in both gameplay and the scope of the game (manager mode).

PES is supposed to have the edge in terms of gameplay but Fifa has made up a lot of ground with 07.

Lots of places are reducing now Christmas is over, for instance Play.com have it now for £18 delivered.

Not played the most recent incarnations of either, but in the past PES has been the "sim" whilst FIFA has been more "arcadey". Maybe best to get down the rental shop and give both a try and see what you like best?
