Oil Spray?

Hi all, hope everyone got over Christmas in one piece!

I drive 300 miles the other day in the Cerb, mainly on motorways, and when I arrived the car was covered in a fine spray of oil.

I remember reading somewhere that the 4.5s spray oil out of somewhere, is this what I've experienced do you think, and is there anything I should be checking (oil level is OK)?

That is, before I drive another 300 miles tomorrow!

Car was covered? as in the whole car? or just the engine bay?
whole car covered..dont have a clue
engine bay...oil cap still on? both hoses under the drivers side induction chamber still connected?

If its the engine bay - I seem to remember one of the airboxes catching oil which then comes out over time, but I'm not sure of the details - I'm sure someone else will.

On the other hand, if its the whole car, who were you following??

Thats what I would have thought....unless you meant it was like 'soot' from your exhaust. Seem to remember a few years ago a similar thread. However, I might be wrong.

Hi.

Check the breather pipe and mesh filter below the drivers side air intake box.

Had speckles of oil all over the front of mine after the BNG drive, so I would put it down to the car infront spewing out crap. I've had hot particles come through the open windows before now and half roast me alive.

I tell you they hurt like hell whatever it was, maybe because the cars are so low down that you get fried.

Maybe it was Dark Matter caused by a Temporal rift in the space time Continuom, nothing that a level 3 diagnostic and diverted power to the warp ncell wont fix...

Yes guys I think you were right, the next long trip produced no oil spray - I guess I must have at some stage been behind something that was spewing out oil.
