Never had a switch go like this on any car! Powers the windoe down, not up - proved it by swapping ns to os, fault went with switch.

Chimaerapages says these are Cavalier swiches - question is - are they easy to get from Vauxhall dealers or are the like hen's teeth?

Sounds like one of the wires has come adrift somewhere in the line.

Definitely the switch I think, nearside window wouldn't raise, swapped switches as the first step in fault finding, and window went up ok. To prove put duff switch into my side, window goes down and won't come up - QED

Still would like to know of they're easy to come by though!

They are Cavalier switches (mk. 2, 1988 - 1995), but I think they were used in much later cars too, so the dealers should have them. Failing that, the scrapyards are full of them.

Definitely hens teeth!

£32 new from a dealer yikes

nothing at the scrappies, looks like these switches must be from rear windows, all the front ones I saw being a pair by the handbrake - none in the front doors. And out of 7 scrap cavaliers I looked at, none had leccy rear windows.

Then a switch in the nearside front door of an Astra was seen, looked exactly the same bounce

Persuaded it to drop into my palm... but... different body, different connections - so much for standardisation!

The search continues.......
