Hi All, Merry christmas!

Can anyone help..

Ive dismantled my rear suspension, which was quite easy (so far) but im having real trouble getting the original bushs out of the wishbones...

they are the original ones as have an inner and outer metal sleve so i guess have rusted in...

shoudl i take these to a workshop to have the stemped out?

Any ideas chaps?

I removed similar from a Vixen (or was it sommit else? memory is going) with the aid of a hack saw to cut the metal bits very carefully and then a vice and some suitably sized sockets to tease them out after a good soaking with plus gas.

Chain drill and or blow torch to remove the rubber bits and a hacksaw to split the outer metal sleeve. Be careful not to cut through the sleeve into the surrounding metal of the wishbone. When you are 90% way through splitting the sleeve you can punch the rest out with a cold chisel. You only need one cut to split the sleeve and it will easily push/drift out.
Hope that makes sense
Best of luck.

Gas........burn the rubber and use a suitable socket to punch the sleeve out. Used this method on my -84 Tasmin.

When I replaced all my bushes I used the method as already mentioned, chain drill the rubber, knock out the center and then saw through the metal outer bush casing, 2 parallel cuts then knock the cut section out with a chisel. I would not want to do this one again though! if you get the chance get them removed with a press.
Best one for me was 15 minutes, worst 3 hours, eek

thanks for all your thoughts guys...

Went to my best mates dads who has got a work shop. Decided to use the heat method by heating the bush/wishbone ends to glowing hot and then punch out. Worked really well and took about 40 mins in total!

Ill be puting that side together tomorrow!

I hope the new poly bushs (super flex) make a difference!

I havent touched the dif, although next job is to begin the rear brakes...whilst its in bits, might replace the discs as they are a little scored and new caliper as it has stuck on once or twice...get the feeling this could be quite a job!
