My brakes needed an overhaul so on sunday I finaly decided to replace the front discs and pads. The calipers came off easily then the disc assembly no probs so far.

Then I came to remove the disc from the hub (the bit with the wheel studs). I undid all the relevant bolts and nuts. After that I then spent a good half a day trying to separate the hub from the disc. Would it come apart would it f$$$!!

Normaly at times like this I find comfort and help within the pages of the Haynes mnual sadly this time their was no advice provided it simply read:

No 4 Remove the bolts and nuts and detach the hub and bearing assembly from the disc.

So I decided to reasemble everything and just replace the pads. Any suggestions people?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Wey Hey...... It's Blow Torch o'clock I assume you apply the heat to the disc not the hub

Blow torch and a hammer? sounds like my kind of engineering!

Any suggestions as to what I should use to make sure the face of the hub is nice and flat afterwards?

Cheers

Squirt some liquid wrench around the joint and let it sit overnight.
using a block of wood and a big hammer whack the fukc out of it.
the hub is aluminium so don't wack it directly with the hammer.
failing that heat the disc with a torch and whack it some more.
