Hello,

Can any of you PHs out there tell me what size battery I need for my '96 XJR. The one fitted that I inherited does not seem to be man enough for the job(no details of spec on the side though) It used to perform ok but doesn't seem to fill the battery tray indicating that a larger more powerful one is needed.

I also have a 'fried' alternator, can anyone inform me how difficult these are to change in-situ, ie do you have to remove the Supercharger to gain access or can you get to it from below? A procedure to follow maybe and is it a DIY possible?

thanks in advance

Hi, you should be able to remove the alternator from below after you remove any undertrays that may be in your way. I just looked at the instructions and it looks to be straight forward, only 5 steps.

As far as batteries go I have had great success with Optima if you can find a model 34 redtop it should be more than enough battery for your car it has 800 CCA @ 0 F and 20 reserve hours @ 25 amps. It still won't fill up you battery tray but Optimas are little power houses.
