Really simple question - but I don't want to c**k up!

Apologies in advance for this very novice question but I don't want to damage anything. I'm in the process of fitting a Bixenon HID light kit and need to remove the front wheels to access the rear of the headlights. Having removed the 5 'shinny' wheel nuts and expecting the wheel to come off, it doesn't budge. I've found the 6th nut behind the central hub cap - do I need to remove this also? If yes, is the thread the same for the other 5 nuts or opposite? Cheers in advance.

you just need to remove the 5 nuts only. You might need to bang the tyre hard with the palm of your hand just under wheel arch OR lever it off carefully?

If you jack the car up the wheel will come off much more easily

You've probably got a little corrosion between the alloy wheels and the hub. The only way is to apply a little force to jar it off.

Anyone know how to stop the corrosion. Is it worth applying a little coppereaze type grease?

The wheels were refurbished about a year ago - not been off since - hopefully not too much corrosion.

Refurb - thats your problem. They (I have a theory as I have same issue) build up more paint in the holes through which the wheel is bolted to the hub. This then binds them in place.

TO BE DONE WITH CARE.If you find you have hit it bashed it cursed it and it still will not come off,loosen the wheel nuts ONE turn from tight and then drive the car back and forward about HALF a car length using the brakes to stop in each direction then jack up and try again, the wheel should come off with a little tap with a hammer using a piece of wood as a drift on the rim of the wheel.
