This might seem like a really stupid question.....................but how easy is it to change a blown headlight bulb? car is imported 1993 1.6 mx-5, just got home, as i pulled up outside the house, one of the bulbs blew. Is it just a simple swap like other cars or do the pop up headlight arrangement confuse matters???????????

if its an import your best bet is buying a new set of raybriges. The eunos headlights are sealed units i.e you can't just change the bulb.

for standard uk replacements - and a bit more info
www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/202

for raybrigs
www.jagspares.co.uk/mx5/partdetail.asp?partno=RAYBRIG

obviously you'll need a pair.

That's assuming your headlights haven't already had the sealed beam units replaced with H4 units...

You can leave the headlights up with the switch in the middle of the dash.
Just undo the plastic surround with a cross head screwdriver, and then you can remove the light unit in the normal way. As said above, the imports have sealed beam units which can be expencive. Or the loads of options of what to replace them with. The cheapest is the sealed beam unit off a mini ( our mini was '87 vintage and had the same lights ), possible these are the H4 units mentioned above, but not sure without checking.
