Looking to buy a half deent car again in the new year, once I sell the Chimaera (for a pittance!!) I reckon I'll have around £3k to buy a car. Noticed recently that there are alot of early-mid ninties 2.5 GTS-T Skylines for around that price. Seem to have lowish milage to, well less than 80k.

A few questions if I may....

Can a decent Skyline really be bought for this price?
Are they all imports? Anything to look out for?
Are they a nightmare to insure? I seem to remember someone saying that they aren't recognised by UK insurers.
Could I use it as a daily driver.
I presume they're cheaper to run/service than the GTRs?

Many thanks

I suspect a pretty standard car would be possible at this price. Is this the lowest price? The dogs would be sold at the lowest price, so I'd go for a little bit more.

Yes, all GTS-Ts are. Usual suspects: blown turbos, clutch, engine. Get a specialist to check it out. That said, I didn't and mine's been fine since I bought it 5 years ago.

They were about 15 years ago. Most specialists will cover you eg Adrian Flux, A Plan.

I do. Utterly reliable.

Nope. Costs the same to service as an 800bhp GTR. We're talking Chimaera costs for servicing at a specialist. You could get it done by a back street garage if you (a) want the apprentice to rag it from cold and possible crash it (b) want the service to miss things (c) never want to be able to sell it...

You can find plenty of R32 GTS-T's at or below that price. And non-turbo Skyline version. Any GTR at that price would be a rolling catastrophe
