induction kits ??

i have just binned old round airfilter from my 88 390se but am unsure what to replace it with. should i buy a induction kit ive looked at a k&n 57i or should i replace with a more standard one any suggestions welcome on what to buy how much and are they any good my car ran pretty well with the old one even though it was full of oil and dirt and partly covered by the loose bonnet insulation.

Did the same thing on my 350 and 400, a cheap and easy mod
the old Landrover type filters just look sh1t, I thing the K&N does give a slightly louder induction roar and they last forever.
