There are a set for sale on the mini2 classifieds (complete with clear lenses) for £45. But I am just curious where they can be bought from, Google has turned up no useful links.

Cheers.

P.S They are advertised as "works side repeaters" which is what I have been using to search Google with!

I know, I realise that. But I might add a few Works exterior and interior bits in a few months.

Each to his own. I don't understand fake badging, all of those BMW 316's with M3 badges on. It doesn't make sense to me. Personally I debadge cars.

Like you say each to their own, but its hardly fake badging. It’s not as if I am sticking a Cooper badge on my One D. The Works name nowadays is associated with other modification items for Minis not just engine tuning. So if I were to buy some Works items (like a strut brace or carbon fibre mirror caps) then I wouldn’t mind adding these side grilles. Hence my enquiry.

The 'Works' conversions are performance upgrades not cosmetic changes. By your thinking it would be OK for the owner of a BMW316 to fit an M3 badge provided he has changed his steel wheels for BMW 18" alloys. Or a Mini One owner who fits a central twin exhaust to then swap the One badge for a CooperS badge.

A Mini One D with carbon fibre mirror caps is not a 'Works' Mini. It's a Mini One D that looks a little better, that's all.

No, thats not what I am saying. I am in no way contemplating hiding the identity of my Mini. Otherwise I would do what a lot of people do and remove the ONE D badge, but I bought a One D for a reason. And the works name is associated with cosmetic changes, look at how many things they sell if you are still confused e.g an entire carbon fibre dash, which has works logo recessed into it. (but in no where in my post did I dispute the works conversion was engine only, in fact I never even mentioned the works conversion) If I were to add works items to my car then I still see absolutely no reason why its not ok to add two little works logos to the side grilles, as it would be fitted with works items. Obviously I would not add them if I didn't sport any of these items as it would look stupid. I don't want to get into an argument about it, as that would just be plain sad. But in reference to your BMW comment, I find it odd that if you bought a new BMW and is fitted with M Division parts such as the M-Pack then it receives M logos, such as on the tread plates, steering wheel and wheels etc etc. Surely you don't think that this is wrong as well, and that they are pretending they own an M3?

Anyway, Like I say its pretty sad if we start arguing about it

edit: for clarity

you're both right:

JCW parts are not just engine upgrades

however (!) by sticking JCW badges on i think one is really making out it's something it isn't* - because most people do regard the cooperS jcw as a model in it's own right (even if it were only at the end of the production run that you could geta line built one..).

*although having said that i've got a 'ring sticker on mine and whilst i have been and i have been in the 'ring taxi and i have driven around it it wasn't in the MCS..!

well not always you can get a few works parts: braces and suspenion for a oneD its hardly his fault that bmw dont make any prefomace parts for it

also the main reson behind it being a oneD and no cooperD was they have to pay to use the cooper name still as mike cooper takes a cut out of every cooper and S and works car sold

personaly i have no issue with having works badges on any mini

JCW Garage (before they closed down) used to supply those badges to the indicator grills on modified and tuned Cooper Works'. Although when the S came out they sold fewer and fewer Cooper Works (Due to a new S being cheaper), so they stopped selling the kit and stopped making these indicator grills.
